About Fernbrook Floral Design

Thanks so much for visiting my site! If you're planning an eco-friendly wedding, my sustainable approach to wedding florals might be just what you're looking for. I love the natural world, great design, and celebrating life’s important moments, and I would be honored to be part of your wedding day.

After years of designing flowers for family and friends while working full-time as a forensic psychologist, I launched Fernbrook Floral Design in 2020 to help bring seasonal, locally-grown flowers and sustainable design to one of life's most joyous and celebrated rituals: the marriage of two people in love. I came up with the name Fernbrook because there is a brook that runs behind my house where I forage fern, among other greenery. But really, I loved ferns long before I lived in this home; my first tattoo many years ago was a large fern frond on my torso!

My business is a reflection of my values, which include:

Excellent service. My clients are my top priority. I will listen closely to what you want, and provide advice and personalized service with careful attention to your budget and creating fresh floral designs for your big day.

Sustainability. Flower agriculture and floristry have a big impact on the environment. I practice sustainable floristry, which mitigates this impact and supports healthy farming and business practices. I do this by sourcing flowers from local farmers as much as possible, composting, using eco-friendly products, avoiding single-use plastics including floral foam, and buying from farms that practice responsible farming and fair employment practices. I am enchanted by the texture, variety and color of locally-grown flowers here in Georgia, and I think you will be too.

Giving back. As a semi-retired forensic psychologist, I am committed to supporting causes related to mass incarceration and social justice. I donate 10% of my profits to the Equal Justice Initiative, an organization devoted to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.

I would love to learn more about you and your wedding plans. Please get in touch to schedule a phone consultation!
